Our mission is to improve Oklahoma communities through service.
Our History
Red River Community Corps began in 2013 with two of Oklahoma's largest AmeriCorps programs: Oklahoma Serves and Oklahoma In Action. AmeriCorps members serving with Red River Community Corps have provided nearly 1 million hours of service to 120+ nonprofit agencies across Oklahoma. Red River added an AmeriCorps VISTA program in 2017 (paused in summer 2025) and launched two new AmeriCorps State programs in 2019. Red River is now Oklahoma’s largest intermediary of AmeriCorps State programs.
Our Programs
Oklahoma Opportunities Program
The Oklahoma Opportunities Program places AmeriCorps members with selected organizations to strengthen under-resourced areas across Oklahoma and increase their ability to address unmet needs in their communities. As part of this program, AmeriCorps members serve as Capacity Building Coordinators.
VISTA Program
The AmeriCorps VISTA program strengthens organizations alleviating poverty through volunteering and mobilizing resources. VISTA members serve host sites by recruiting and managing volunteers, helping community organizations seek grants and donations, identifying new areas for growth, and more.
The VISTA program is currently on pause as of summer 2025. We will provide more details as they become available.
Areas of Service
-
We provide independent living services to elderly Oklahomans. We also build the capacity of food banks, combat the opioid crisis, tackle homelessness, and address food insecurity.
-
We provide assistance to veterans and military families by connecting them to education opportunities, jobs, and the benefits they have earned. Many veterans also volunteer with us so they can continue to serve their country.
-
Our programs serve as a pathway to employment opportunities and help develop vital work skills. We build and rehabilitate affordable housing, provide financial literacy training, and connect people to jobs.
-
Members and volunteers support students in public, private, and charter schools across Oklahoma. Through our work we improve attendance and engagement, increase high school graduation rates and expand college enrollment.
